Yankees Manager Aaron Boone then suspended and fined Ejection at Thursday Night Sports against the Baltimore Orioles.
In a statement from MLB, Boone “received a one-game suspension for his recent conduct toward Major League umpires, including the actions following his ejection from Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.”
Boone will not manage the first game of the Yankees’ series against the San Diego Padres on Friday.
The wording of the MLB statement suggests that the suspension came down to Boone’s season-long penchant for heated arguments with umpires, which often lead to ejections. Boone’s latest ejection was his fourth of the season, the most in the majors.
In the third inning of Thursday’s game, Boone was seen arguing from the dugout to home plate umpire Edwin Moscoso over balls and strikes. Moments later, Moscoso ejected Boone, causing the Yankee captain to storm out of the dugout to argue and plead his case on the field.
Before Friday’s game, Boone said “I don’t feel I’m being targeted by the umpires. They’re not going to tolerate certain things. I feel I’m treated fairly.”
