Grace Van Dyne has been shut down by the entertainment industry.
After growing up as Hollywood royalty, the great-granddaughter of movie legend Robert Mitchum, the 26-year-old has taken a similar, though more modern, step into acting — first appearing as a reality TV star alongside her famous family at age 9. as and recently Stranger Things. But she is now “turning down acting projects” after experiencing sexual harassment at the workplace.
In a live video on the gaming streaming service Twitch, Van Dyne, who plays cheerleader Chrissy Cunningham in Season 4 of the hit Netflix show, said, “The fact of the matter is, the last few projects I’ve worked on, I haven’t.” My experiences with some of the people I’ve had to work for haven’t been the best.”
She recently said during the making of a film, “one of the producers,” who she didn’t name, “hired a girl he was sleeping with and then he asked me to have a threesome with them. So, like, this is my boss.”
Van Dien said she declined, but “I cried” and was “very upset” by the poor workplace experience.
She said that she is going to focus on Twitch streaming instead of new acting roles for now. On stage, she plays herself playing video games, including Fortnite and others, and has created over 200,000.
She later added on Twitter, “My work priorities are changing as I get older.” She added that she is now “waiting for the right project” with “the right people” before venturing into something new. “It’s good to feel calm,” she said.
Van Dien, the daughter of Casper Van Dien and Carrie Mitchum, who separated in childhood, appeared on the 2005 reality show with her father and then-stepmother, Katherine Oxenberg.
