It appears that a growing contingent of Phoenix Suns fans can’t understand why coach Montee Williams continues to play Landry Schmett in the NBA playoffs.
There was a lot of noise from that party on social media 125-107 loss to the Suns The Denver Nuggets in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinal series on Saturday night at The Ball Arena in Denver.
Shamet played 14 minutes for the Suns and made his only field goal attempt, a 3-pointer. But Sun was outscored by the Nuggets for 15 points when he was on the floor, the most of any bench player for Phoenix.
When Terrence Ross, TJ Warren and others continue to ride the bench, Williams insists on continuing to go back to Schmett, many Suns fans are scratching their heads, and this is troubling many of them.
He voiced it on Twitter after Saturday night’s loss to Phoenix.
