The Patriots are running a tight end away from one of their divisional rivals.
According to several reports, Mike Gesicki has agreed to sign with New England. Gesicki, who was ranked No. 46 on PFT list of The top free agent has agreed to one-year deals worth up to $9 million.
This is the second straight one-year deal for Gecicki as he played his final season with the Dolphins on the franchise tag. He appeared in every game for Miami, but saw his role change in Mike McDaniel’s offense and he went from 73 catches for 780 yards the previous season to 32 catches for 362 yards.
He caught five touchdowns in the regular season and one more in the playoffs, so he could be put to use by the Patriots as a red zone target. the patriots traded Jonnu Smith for the Falcons, so Gesicki and Hunter Henry is poised to be the top tight end in New England this year.
