I just loved her innocence and everyone needed her to be okay with it and do the right thing. And god Thankful that I did the film. It was a blessing.
In 2018, Parton announced plans to form a 9 to 5 Sequel with the original cast and co-written by Rashida Jones and Pat Resnick. However, the follow-up was effectively canceled in 2019. Fonda recently said He was dissatisfied with the script.
Tomlin is still hopeful that will happen.
“I haven’t given up on it,” she says, adding that she is looking for a new writer. “I’m still holding out hope that we’ll get a script together that the three of us would like to do ’cause it would be amazing … Maybe it’ll be our last movie, hooray.”
