How the 49ers’ starting lineup stacks up after first wave of talks originally appeared nbc sports birea
Now, 49ers can play football with NFL talent at every position on offense and defense.
The team informed about the alleged settlement with the Center Jake Brendel on a four-year contract extension means the 49ers have filled all their starting jobs — for now, anyway.
The team could still acquire players from today’s tentative lineup to bolster some projected starters and backup roles through competition in free agency, the 2023 NFL Draft or training camp.
The 49ers still have a clear void at kicker. reliable veteran Robbie Gould announced that he would not be returning after six seasons with the club. Filling that specialist role is the last major issue with the roster – aside from backup positions.
So far, here’s how the 49ers stack up on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball:
Crime
Quarterback: Trey Lance and Brock Purdy. Or is it Brock Purdy and Trey Lance? Sam Darnold fits in as a good insurance policy.
rushing back: Obviously, Christian McCaffrey starts, and the backup group is strong with Elijah Mitchell, Jordan Mason, and Tye Davis-Price.
full back: Kyle Juszczyk is the best in the business.
wide receiver: Deebo Samuel and Brandon Ayuk are a solid 1-2 punch. Juan Jennings, Ray-Ray McCloud and Danny Gray will vie for the roles.
tight end: George Kittle has things under control, but the team could use more depth with Charlie Woerner joining in.
Left Tackle: Trent Williams, the top left tackle in the NFL for a while, is showing no signs of slowing down.
Left Guard: Aaron Banks appears to be the long-term answer after a promising first season as the starter.
Center: Brendel took advantage his first starting opportunity and redeemed after seeing the open market offer.
Right Guard: Spencer Burford won the starting job as a rookie. He should keep improving.
Right tackle: Colton Mackiewitz gets first crack at the beginning After Mike McGlinchey moved to Denver. Jaylon Moore – and/or a draft pick – could also be in the mix.
Defense
Defensive End: Nick Bosa won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. On the other hand, Drake Jackson is expected to return strong and make a big contribution.
Defensive Measures: javon hargrave was Big move by the 49ers in free agency. He joins Eric Armstead on the interior to give the team incredible strength in the middle. At this point, anything they can get out of Javon Kinlaw is a bonus. The return of Kevin Givens provides another important rotational piece.
Linebacker: Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw are as good as they get. Right now, Oren Burke is the third linebacker in the base positions, accounting for about 1/3 of the defensive snaps.

Cornerback: Charvarius Ward and Deommodore Lenoir are fine, but the 49ers certainly could be deeper and stronger. Samuel Womack is the leading running back in place of Jimmy Ward at nickel back.
Security: Talanoa Hufanga, an All-Pro selection last season, and veteran tashun gipson is back, He combined for nine interceptions. The draft is a good spot for the 49ers to bring in talented youngsters to sit behind Gipson for a season and learn.
