NFL Network reporter James Palmer said Monday on “Good Morning Football” that some free agents are making calls on their own… chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Palmer talked about the Chiefs’ plans for wide receivers this offseason and then revealed that opposing players are reaching out to Mahomes.
Palmer said of the Chiefs, “They expect JuJu Smith-Schuster to resign and bring him back, or I should say hope.” “So it will be essentially the same group around Patrick Mahomes that he finished the season with and won the Super Bowl. Obviously the other pass catchers you could say are Travis Kelce in the mix.
“It doesn’t mean they’re watching. It also doesn’t mean other wide receivers, I’m told, aren’t blowing Patrick Mahomes’ calls. It’s my understanding that people have been watching him this whole season.” Calling saying, ‘Can I come over to Kansas City? Can I come over and play with you guys?’ Like, it’s a real thing that’s happening.
“So I’m not saying they’re adding anybody else. And (Chiefs) Brett Veitch is one of these general managers (as) we’ve talked about how (Eagles GM Howie) Roseman is always on the table. Will weigh every single option out there. There are receivers that are interested, but right now the plan looks to be bringing back everyone they finished the season with, which isn’t a terrible thing. But again, when everyone If someone wants to come, maybe there’s a discount, and it could be interesting.
