cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush played well during Dak Prescott’s absence at the start of the 2022 season. Some wondered if he would get a chance to compete for the starter position elsewhere in 2023.
This has not happened. And so Rush will remain with the Cowboys.
Rush will sign a two-year deal with a maximum value of $6 million, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. This means that the base price is lower, and Rush will have to hit some incentives to reach that high-end number.
The first year and signing bonus are reportedly fully guaranteed, which means Rush could be released after 2023.
He probably won’t. Rush has proven to be a more than capable No. 2 for Prescott. It’s surprising that Rush didn’t receive much interest in free agency.
