Purdue Committed Canon Catchings was the very first debut in the updated rankings, coming in at No. 40 and earning a four-star ranking after previously being unranked. Catchings has seen his stock soar in recent months following his commitment to Matt Painter and the Boilermakers. He is the second biggest recruit in the state of Indiana after five-star center Flory Bidunga, (More on Bidunga later).
Catchings and Brownsburg High School are looking for the IHSAA state championship this spring after winning sectionals and are set to take on New Palestine at regionals this weekend. Four-star recruiting has been a big reason for that success. He averaged 17.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 47% from the field and 36% from three-point range.
The Boilermaker of the future will provide a unique combination of size and athleticism for Matt Painter. Catchings can play three or four in college and will be a matchup nightmare for opposing Big Ten coaches because he can score at all three levels.

Benter broke his high school’s all-time scoring record in January, surpassing John Reed’s mark of 1,394 career points. He showed on several occasions that he could fill it, as later in January he had back-to-back games with 48 and 51 points for Brownstown Central. He also displayed his athleticism earlier this year by breaking the backboard in a game.

gicari harris Has deep ties to the Boilermakers and may follow in his father’s footsteps, Glenn Robinson, in suiting up for Purdue. Harris dropped 22 spots in the Rivals 150 ranking, but still holds the four-star ranking. He began his junior season with Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia after falling in the final four of the 7A state tournament.
Harris has already made an official visit to Purdue with another tour Stanford, He has also gone on unofficial tours of his home state team. Georgia, Harris would give Matt Painter a point guard in class to go with Jack Bentor in the backcourt. Legacy recruiting is a priority target for the Boilermakers going into the spring.
