An R-rated live-action/animation hybrid series about Winnie-the-Pooh character Christopher Robin is being developed from Boat Rocker Studios and Shamier Anderson and Stephen James Bay Mills Studios. Diversity specially learned.
The official logline for the project, currently titled “Christopher Robin”, states, “Christopher Robin is a disillusioned New Yorker navigating his quarter-life crisis with the help of strange talking animals. , who live outside their abandoned apartment in a drug-induced portal to Beyond Complex, The Hundred Acre.

Charlie Kesselring (“Foreign Relations,” “Most Likely”) wrote the script for the project and will also executive produce. Conrad Vernon (“Shrek 2,” “Sausage Party”) will direct the pilot and executive produce. Nick Nantel executive produces for Boat Rocker, with Anderson and James for Bay Mills. Holly Habsher is overseeing the project for Bay Mills. Bay Mills is currently under first look deal at Boat Rocker.
“Few characters are more iconic and known around the world for their adventures than Christopher Robin and Winnie-the-Pooh,” said Nantel, executive vice president of creative affairs for Scripted, Boat Rocker Studios. “We are grateful to be working with the Bay Mills team, Charlie Kesselring and Conrad Vernon on a project that takes these characters to new, unexpected and really fun places.”
Anderson and James said, “This project takes everything you think of Christopher Robin and Winnie-the-Pooh and creates something completely fresh and undeniably funny.” “We are excited to partner with Boat Rocker, Charlie and Conrad on this journey into a truly creative space where anything is possible for these characters.”
It is the latest Winnie-the-Pooh project to be announced after copyright protection on British author AA Milne’s most famous works expires in 2022, with the characters entering the public domain. One of the more notable takes on Pooh since then Horror film “” Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.
Boat Rocker’s current slate also includes “Orphan Black: Echoes” on AMC, “Slip” for Roku, and “American Rust” on Amazon FreeVee.
