One name floating around as a signing possibility for the Bears is Orlando Brown Jr., the perennially successful starting right tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, who is a free agent on the open market. Adam Schefter clarifies about ESPN nfl live The Bears “would make sense” for Brown to land.
Schefter said, “The Chiefs moved in with Jawan Taylor. And now Orlando Brown is looking for a new home.” “The Bears went for Mike McGlinchey (but) didn’t get him. He went to Denver. Chicago makes a lot of sense. But he wants a lot of money and some teams are looking in other areas.”
The Bears desperately need to improve the trenches on both sides of the ball before the start of the 2023 season.
He efficiently addressed other areas, such as bringing in DJ Moore to strengthen the linebacker room in the wide receiver corps with TJ Edwards and Tremaine Edmonds. However, his focus is now clearly on mending the trenches.
He began that project as he had previously done by signing Nate Davis, a standout right guard with the Tennessee Titans. But, as it stands, the Bears still need to bring in units to support their offensive line.
Last season, he relied on Braxton Jones, a fifth-round rookie pick, to take over at left tackle. He held his own but never played well enough to earn an everyday spot at the most coveted offensive line position. From there came a call from Larry Borom.
Brown, a 4x Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs make for a solid fit at one end. But, according to Schefter, it has a catchall with their current free agent market.
Schefter said, “The league views him as a right tackle. He wants to be viewed as a left tackle. So I think that enters into it as well.”
