Aaron Boone messaged about Yankees Afterwards 15-2 loss to the Texas Rangers on Sunday Marked a new low for New York (15–14), who entered May tied with the Boston Red Sox for last place in the AL East.
“Prepare and compete,” Boone said after the Yankees’ third straight Series loss and sixth in eight games. “We’re obviously a little up against it right now, but we’ve got to keep preparing and competing and feel like we’re the ones who want to get ourselves out of it a little bit. We had some good ones. -bat today, But we’ve got to find a way – missing some pieces and stuff – to score some runs.
“It’s tough, when you get behind like that, to find your way back. Thought we’ve got some good batsmen to get back in the game, get your first run — (edolis, Garcia Makes a great throw where we cut the lead almost in half and then who knows. But we’ve certainly just found a way with some mixing and matching.”
To speak of Boone, the Yankees were without Giancarlo Stanton (on 10-day IL with left hamstring strain) and aaron judge (day-long, right hip strain) during a three-game stretch in which Texas (17-11) limited New York to four runs.
“I thought we finished well,” Boone said of Sunday’s ninth inning, where the Yankees rallied with two outs to start the frame and scored on a bases-loaded walk. aaron hicks‘ game-ending strikeout. “It’s easy to match it. I thought those at-bats were at the very end.
“I like some of the efforts I’ve seen when you’re up against it, but that’s what we have to do now — when you’re not overly aggressive right now, those are the things you’ve got to control that level of competition.
